Hi, I'm trying to run mysql 3.23 on suse linux.
I tried to upgrade using an rpm, but that didn't work. I've moved what files I can find from the old 3.22 install to an 'old' directory ( with no execute permissions ) I've reinstalled from a binary in a user dir, and followed the install instructions for this. Moved & renamed a conf file from the support files dir and put it in the data dir. OK so all went fine at the install time, everything ran fine. however today, a week later, it went down :( I couldn't restart it for ages, with no error messages. I have just finally managed to restart it, it worked for a few mins (tomcat connected fine) then I got the following output for a Segmentation Fault. ./bin/safe_mysqld: line 273: 16918 Segmentation fault $NOHUP_NICENESS $ledir/$MYSQLD $defaults --basedir=$MY_BASEDIR_VERSION --datadir=$DATADIR $USER_OPTION --pid-file=$pid_file --skip-locking >>$err_log 2>&1 011202 20:03:47 mysqld ended now I just get the same as before /home/webadmin/mysql > ./bin/safe_mysqld --user=mysql Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /home/webadmin/mysql/data 011202 20:15:26 mysqld ended Any help or guesses as to what it could be from experienced installers / unix gurus really would be very much appreciated...I'm getting very frustrated with this :( Thanks v. much in advance, Ian --------------------------------------------------------------------- Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Trouble unsubscribing?
