We found that, if you alter the permission tables (user) & /etc/hosts
(so that it can do IP-address-to-hostname mapping for the hosts named in
"user") & say "mysqladmin reload", mysql doesn't pick up the changes -
you have to shut it down totally & restart it.
I think this is new behaviour, and a bug. I'm not 100% sure whether it
relates to any changes to the "user" table, or just changes where
/etc/hosts gets changed too, but mention it in case that was the
critical factor.
We are not expecting a fix urgently, since we know how to work around it.
