Matt it would help to know: Your platform: Linux? What version? your kernel? Which MySQL version? Did you compile it your self? Using what options? What is your my.cnf? Are you running low on resources?
Many time a signal 11 indicates a Harware/memory problem are you running ECC memory? You need to provide more info than just the error: also try using mysqlbug to generate a bug report.
