Hello Gurus, I have downloaded the following mysql kit to install on Solaris (intel) and gtar-i386.gz
http://www.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQL-3.23/mysql-3.23.39-pc-solaris2.8-i386.t ar.gz http://www.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQL-3.23/gtar-i386.gz and then done gzip -cd mysql-3.23.39-pc-solaris2.8-i386.tar.gz |gtar-i386 xvf - great, got unziped files. And then tried to install % scripts/mysql_install_db % Nothing got. Then tried to run % mysql just core dump. So, check the file ls -l scripts/mysql_install_db great, 0 (zero) length file. Similarly, in support-files/mysql.server file also 0 (zero) length file. Please, update the kit. So, now i am continuening with mysql-3.22 on solaris. it's working fine.
