I on the other hand had ZERO luck with it. The server simply segfaults. It 
appears from error log that the initial thread corrupts memory BADLY. All I 
get is a garbage backtrace like:

Trying to get some variables.
Some pointers may be invalid and cause the dump to abort...
thd->query at 0x642927f0  is invalid pointer
thd->thread_id=1769414775

so it would appear that a stock ML 8.1 will not run the supplied binaries. I 
tried three different machines with identical results. :((((
