System: 600 Mhz Intel desktop importing data from a dual 800 server, DSL connection,
Access
2000(all service packs current), newest MyODBC driver, MySQL 3.22

I have been trying to import tables from a MySQL database using Access
2000, but it takes over an hour for a 5000 record table. The data file
that holds the table is only 2-3 megabytes of data. Bandwidth is not an
issue, I'm on a DSL speed connection and the remote database is hosted
on a larger unlimited bandwidth network.

Why does it take Access so long to import a table. I have tables with
less than 100k of data that take several minutes to import. Importing
any of the 1 Meg size tables sometimes loses connection during the
transfer. I can import all the data from these same size (1-3 Meg)
tables using a downloaded MySQL front end client in a few minutes or
less. I've used MySQL GUI, and MySQL Front. Those only export a cvs file and is not
very useful when you have multiple tables that have to be imported back into Access.
Is there some
configuration I can use to get Access 2000 to retreive data in the
proper time? Is this a known problem between MySQL and Access 2000? If you don't have
a direct answer, please point me somewhere that might have more information.
Thanks,
