Hi,

I'm a newie to SQL, and to Linux, so please forgive my blaring blunders...

I know I have an x86 Linux machine, running Redhat 7.2, and I know that I
like RPMs better than binary installations....

When I get to the Stable Version/Linux/RPMs download area, the following
options are available:

MySQL 3.23.49a Server (i386) (14M)

MySQL 3.23.49a Benchmark/test suites (i386) (690K)

MySQL 3.23.49a Client programs (i386) (5.2M)

MySQL 3.23.49a Libraries and Header files for development (i386) (1.2M)

MySQL 3.23.49a Client shared libraries (i386) (231K)

My question is: do I have to install ALL these files? I'm just a little
end-user, who wants to make my own database for academic sources, notes,
maybe my own addressbook (I like custom-configured stuff, I used to do a lot
of it with Filemaker Pro). I'm never going to use this on a server or do
development stuff with it. Which of the above RPMs do I download and
install? I thought I'd find out for sure before I downloaded all this stuff
(not with a high-speed modem...). I'm planning on using a MySQL gui that
works well in Gnome or KDE.

Thanks in advance to any and all help.

Elissa Teeple
