Folks,

The database I setup 2 weeks ago was operating fine, if a bit slow. Yesterday, I tried
running the OPTIMIZE TABLE command on it, as recommended on this list for improving
performance.

Yesterday there were 75,000 records in my database.

Today, there are 13,000 records.

Apart from the Optimize Table command and a few Select queries that I issued
yesterday, I
didn't issue any commands to this database, and the only other interface is via my web
front end using Lasso V. End users do have the ability to delete records, but only one
at a time.

Can someone please help me here. Is there any way that these records can be
recovered?
Is there a cache file somewhere that I can look at?

The size of the .MYD file is still 11MB in size, which is the normal size with the
original 75,000 records.

I fear to shut down the server, thinking that it will flush out the file. I'm thinking
the records are still lurking in the file here.

Exporting the database using the MySQLDump command produces only the 13,000 records.

Anybody have a clue?
