Since MySQL does not yet support stored procedures, and this problem requires looping logic, I'm guessing no. You will have to use whatever language you are using to access MySQL to do it.

As a newbie to MySQL (and used to be running DB2), I'm looking for a way to explode a bill-of-materials table. Is there any support for recursive SQL in MySQL, for example by using standard common table expressions? Thanks in advance!
