hi, i just installed the mysql 4.0.1 max for freebsd.
-rw-r--r-- 1 root users 6085585 Dec 24 02:44 mysql-max-4.0.1-alpha-unknown-freebsdelf4.4-i386.tar.gz and followed steps for the binary install and started the Post installation steps. http://www.mysql.com/documentation/mysql/bychapter/manual_Installing.html#Po st-installation now as per the doc i'm supposed to run. shell> cd mysql_installation_directory shell> ./bin/safe_mysqld --user=mysql & however there's no safe_mysqld .. bash-2.05$ ls -l /usr/local/mysql/bin/safe* ls: /usr/local/mysql/bin/safe*: No such file or directory bash-2.05$ ls -l /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe -rwxr-xr-x 1 root mysql 9681 Dec 23 21:13 /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe but a mysqld_safe script. is that what the doc meant ? thx. yash Technical Y!
