Hi, If you wish to write an server application ...i think, you can be interested about how make settings for a socket (see "man 7 setsockopt") But your problem it's so far from that....i think, you changed some user access rights and for this reason you can't connect to MySQL server. Try mysql -u root -h your_name_machine(not "localhost") -p Don't try to restart MySQL daemon because it is already started...check with ps -ax | grep "mysqld". Regards, Gelu
