I keep getting Access Denied Errors when I try to login to MySql after running mysql_install_db script. I ran the mysql_install_db script, made suer the mysql process is running(checked it using netstat -a), changed the ownership on the binaries and then tried to gain access using the command: mysql -u root mysql, which didnt work and, I also tried using the command: mysqladmin -u root password new_password which didnt work. Both commands still prompt me for a password, when I try to enter a password, I then get the Access Denied Error. Can someone point me in the direction please? Any insight would be GREATLY appreciate as I have been stuck on this for over a week now!
