Haven't you asked this question already?

I'm confused about your "prepared statement support" comment...MM.MySQL 
(which became MySQL Connector/J) has supported PrearedStatements for years.

3.0.0 Is the version with speed improvements. 2.0.14 is really not any 
different than MM.MySQL-2.0.14 other than some repackaging.
