What version of OS X are you running? Jaguar (10.2.0) is noticeably faster. You can do an upgrade, but a fresh install is better. > The bottom of the line iBook is more than twice as fast as what I am > currently using. My wireless is shorter range and somewhat more directional. Not a problem most of the time, but I still have a Cisco Aeronet card from my old PC laptop that is well supported by OS X and has much better range. So I use the Aeronet if I am going to be farther from the WAP. > And all the free software out there that's being compiled for OSX is > really making it a worthy development platform. Check out the fink project if you haven't already. It's on SourceForge. Gives you Debian-like "apt-get" functionality under OS X. This is not how I installed MySQL, though; there is a nice Mac native package for MySQL under OS X. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Trouble unsubscribing?
