I just upgraded from 3.32.51 to 3.23.53. With MySQL 3.23.53, mysqld wouldn't start. In the error log, the error was that it couldn't change to the mysql user. The mysql user did indeed exist. A downgrade back to 3.23.51 fixed this problem. Any thoughts?
By the way, I install via RPM packages and I'm running RedHat Linux 7.1 (kernel 2.4.18-ac3). ........................................ Richard Gabriel, CTO CoreSense Inc.
