Hi,
If you really wish to kill the mysql daemon in this way :
You should try :
ps -ef |grep "mysql"
...show all the mysqld processes and after this must enumarate all pid of
processes in a single kill command.
E.g.
kill -9 1024 1056 ...(processes which are open).
But it's more "health" if you can stop the server using :
/etc/rc.d/mysqld stop
