OK, I lost my password. Snicker away. I tried using the instructions I found in the MySQL manual and got hung up on starting the MySQL server in an unsecured state. The instructions say to start mysqld with the --skip-grant-tables option. When I do I get a "Fatal Error: Please read "Security" section of the manual to find out how to run mysqld as root". Then the server shuts down.
I tried looking in the documentation but found nothing. Please advise...
