As I mentioned in a previous post, I have been using 3.23 for a very long
time with no problems whatsoever. About 1 month ago I began to have
stability problems, unable to connect, unable to shut down....hundreds and
hundreds of myslq processes

At first I thought this was a particular user, so I rebooted my server and
started with clean logs....it hung again within minutes, so I grepped the
log to get the names of every DB that was opened in that brief time and I
took them all offline and restarted again.....lo and behold the server hung
again, so I concluded that it was not due to one users out of control query.

I then upgraded to the current release of 3.23 (installed by rpm) and I was
happy that it appeared to fix the problem...the server was stable and
accessible for all users. However, approximately 1 week later, I am seeing
the exact same problem again and I don't know how to troubleshoot this!

The platform is linux running 2.2.16 and is otherwise stable, there is
plenty of disk and mem so its not resources. Mysqladmin -p shutdown never
returns and the only way to restart is to reboot.
I have many " Forcing close of thread " in my error log.

Please help!

Gary "SuperID" Huntress
