On my RedHat Linux 7.3 system with MySQL 3.23, I can manually start mysqld
by using the following command: /usr/share/mysql/mysql.server start.

I always want the SQL server daemon running, so how can I automate the
startup?
Also, isn't there a way to safely stop the daemon automatically on system
shutdown?

I have referred to the manual, but it is not specific to RH Linux 7.3 and
I'm a newbie.

Thanks very much for your help!
