installing Binaries under /usr/local

Hello, I was wondering if there is distribution or method
for me that would allow me to install mysql with a --prefix
of /usr/local instead of /usr/local/mysql
Normally I would just compile it but I am getting lazy in my old age
and this is my first time with 4.x series, so I'll the official binaries this time.
Should I just copy all the binaries over to /usr/local/bin
and /usr/local/libexec /usr/local/share
and be done with it?


Moving from 3.23.x to 4.0. Thanks.
