I had to upgrade my SGI server to operating system IRIX 6.5.18m from 6.5.15m after the upgrade I can access MySql from the command line but I cannot make an ODBC connection and my web pages using mysql do not work. Other than the OS upgrade no other changes were made. I have tried reinstalling the mysql software version 3.23.54a and it made no difference.
