I have the exact same problem. The mysql server crashes immediately after start up with the error you reported. I didn't have time to investigate, so I just installed the binaries, but I would prefer to compile my own. It runs fine on RedHat 7.3, so it probably has something to do with gcc 3.2 or the glibc that you get with RedHat 8.0. Mysql version 3.23.x works fine under RedHat 8.0 and version 4.0.x works fine on RedHat 7.3. -m -- ## Mark T.
