What does the "user=" and "password=" fields in the my.ini file do? They
don't seem related to the "mysql" command line tool.

They allow winmysqladmin to connect to the server as a client.





They're in the section like this:


[WinMySQLadmin]

Server=C:/mysql/bin/mysqld-max-nt.exe

User=root

Password=xxxxxx
