could you do a check at the following :

do this on both machines:

My guess is you get a login on your Redhat 7.2 and not on Redhat 8.0.

If this is the case it means that no password was specified on 7.2.

In this case ( and only then) go and slap the admin ;-). 
If you are the admin then its time to get a book out ;-) 
...and hope that nobody of your customers ever finds this mailing list ;-)
