Hi Mark, could you do a check at the following :
do this on both machines: --- >mysql Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MySQL connection id is 4 to server version: 3.23.56-1-Max-log Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer. mysql> --- My guess is you get a login on your Redhat 7.2 and not on Redhat 8.0. If this is the case it means that no password was specified on 7.2. In this case ( and only then) go and slap the admin ;-). If you are the admin then its time to get a book out ;-) ...and hope that nobody of your customers ever finds this mailing list ;-) Best regards Nils Valentin Tokyo/Japan 2003年 6月 10日 火曜日 03:36、Obantec Support さんは書きました: > Hi > > I have 2 servers both with 3.23.56-1 installed via rpm's > > proteus2 which is running RedHat 7.2 on 1 cpu and has been in use for over > 1 year works as expected. > > [/var/lib/mysql]# mysqladmin status > Uptime: 515357 Threads: 1 Questions: 2412696 Slow queries: 782 Opens: > 19654 Flush tables: 1 Open tables: 64 Queries per second avg: 4.682 > [/var/lib/mysql]# > > however proteus2a 1week old and running RedHat 8.0 (dual cpu) > > mysql]# mysqladmin status > mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed > error: 'Access denied for user: '' (Using password: NO)' > mysql]# > > I have read documentation and tried various but cannot seem to resolve the > problem. > > Any ideas? > > Mark -- ================================================ Valentin Nils Internet Technology E-Mail: URL: http://www.knowd.co.jp ================================================ -- MySQL General Mailing List For list archives: http://lists.mysql.com/mysql To unsubscribe: http://lists.mysql.com/
