Can someone tell me why the columns ssl_cipher, x509_issuer, x509_subject in the user table are REQUIRED? If they are required what is the default value?
They are used to support the SSL-related clauses of the GRANT statement (and hence, secure connections).
The default value is the empty string for all of them.
I am having a heck of a time working with the mysql gui's and adding records to this table
Generally, it's easier to use the GRANT statement than to add records to the user table directly.
Thanks
