Is there any way i can use the os authentication in Windows(2000 or XP) to work with the mysql server? So that a person can get access to the server when they log in to a machine?
MySQL doesn't know anything about your OS accounts. You use GRANT to set up MySQL accounts. You can, if you like, set up these accounts to have names and passwords like those of the OS accounts, but that's not necessary.
