How to set auto_increment start by value 1000?

Hi,
 
      Hope someone can guide me how to set the auto_increment for an integer and the 
value start with 1000? 
      I know how to set the value start from 1 but don't know how to start from 1000 
or 2000 etc. Hope somebody can help me.
