Hi Andrius, Yes, I've wondered about this before too, but wasn't exactly sure what it meant either. :-) So I just decided to see where this state is set in the code, and it's when the make_join_statistics() function is called. I think that function checks key distribution and things to see which index to use, if any, when looking up rows in a table.
