Possibly veering off topic, but I have a strong urge to comment on this, and shall!
I am a M$ .NET developer (primarily ASP.NET with SQL Server), and have recently embarked on a project at home, and wished to apply the same sort of principles that I use at work - for example, keeping all 'system logic' embedded within the database itself. I have begun prototyping using MySQL 5.0.0a-alpha on win32 (possibly the most unstable combination you can imagine), and it is excellent. I have the odd crash, or strange glitch (such as procedures not being recognized, requiring a restart before they can be called), but this is fine - it's the first alpha, after all! Now all I need to be truly content is views....
