There must be a simple reason for this, but I am really stumped.

Look at this:

mysql> select last from users where last > 20040000000000 limit 10;
+----------------+
last
+----------------+
20040426191837
20040504191410
20040430170916
20040424005350
20040504192210
20040503210716
20040502235436
| 20031218112740 | <-------- NOTICE THIS ONE
20040504210456
20040503190616
+----------------+
10 rows in set (0.00 sec)

**********************

Notice there is a 2003 (14-digit) timestamp included even though I queried
the database for just timestamps greater than 20040000000000 (14 digits).

I am stumped.

Can anyone tell me the simple reason why this is not working right?

Thanks

Ed
