Should've added this. There was only one file in the 'mis' directory:

    -rw-rw-rw- 1 mysql mysql 44 Apr 30 09:51 file.out

Which consisted of the following 186 char long line:

    2 0 0 0 0
                                                                 2004032200 no
  no no

The file's access/mod/change times looked like:

    Access: Wed May 5 07:28:38 2004
    Modify: Fri Apr 30 09:51:16 2004
    Change: Fri Apr 30 09:51:16 2004

thanks,
