Ok. So far I got advises to install the MySQL-client package & the mysql-devel RPM. Will do that & report back. I wouldn't think all that was needed when the MySQL-server-rpm was installed. The functionality to assign a password should be there. I'm such a newbie at this, thanks to all again! Carlos
