I don't have a vast experience of MySQL on Solaris, but I suspect this is
more down to the operating system than any hardware issues. Which version of
Solaris are you running on the SPARC box?
it's Solaris 9 - SunOS 5.9 64bit. the mysql is a 32bit-version.
