The subject warning message has come up in several different threads over the past few months. It also appears in newsgroups and other web sites. It does not appear to be related to architecture, kernel version

No solution, workaround, nor indeed any explanation of its implications has been given (at least none that seem to make any difference). The best anyone has been able to offer is to suppress the logging of error messages, a practise I find hard to accept.

Has anyone discovered anything useful about fixing (or ignoring) this message?

For the record -- this is a binary rpm install of MySQL-server-4.1.3-0.i36.rpm
-- on a debian 3.0r2 (Woody) 2.4 linux kernel
uname output: 2.4.18-bf2.4 #1 Son Apr 14 09:53:28 CEST 2002 i686 unknown.

TIA!
d.
