Before we speculate at all, we really need to make sure this is a
problem with *current* packages. There have been all sorts of changes
to the way upstart gets things up and running these days and this bug
was filed quite a while back originally.

Can the op please indicate what package versions this is occurring with?

Title:
Frontend IP error on cold start

Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
On a cold start of my Mythbuntu front/back end I get an error that indicates
that an IP address was set up incorrectly and cannot connect to backend, when I
only used the basic default install. After which everything seems to run fine.
What is interesting is that if I exit the fronted and then go back to the
fronted the error does not happen. The error does not happen if I cold start
the computer without the 950Q usb tuner, I even left my PCTV HD usb tuner in
and it was OK. Something happening because of the 950Q tuner?
