I just tried running today's daily and didn't hit this problem (but hit
some others). I'm suspecting it was a transient ubiquity bug. Would
you mind testing on the next daily image that includes mythbuntu-live-
autostart 0.60 or later. Hopefully that should be either the 1/17 or
1/18 images.

LIveCD ubiquity installer stuck at remote control dialog
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
Incomplete
Bug description:
The LiveCD MythBuntu install can't get past the remote controls
support dialog. (tested with yesterday's daily)
When the dialog appears you can choose either no support, Android/iOs
support or USB/IR support. Whatever you choose you can click on
"continue" once, then the installer keeps doing its background
operations and at some point indicates "Ready when you are". Clicking
on Continue again doesn't continue the installation.
