Assuming a user has a single partition where they store all myth
recordings as well as other data, wouldn't the easiest solution just
to be to set myth's autoexpire threshold slightly higher than normal?
i.e., if you were using the partition only for myth recordings you
would set autoexpire to always keep, say, 5GB free. If you're worried
about filling up the partition and losing space for other media,
couldn't you just set the autoexpire to keep 10GB free? That way
you've always got an extra 5GB in which to add new data outside of
myth. Assuming you add 5GB of new data then the next time autoexpire
runs it will delete 5GB of recordings and you'll still have that 5GB
of free space in which to rip DVD's, add music, etc.

I understand the points being made by folks using their media
partitions for recordings as well as other data, but it seems like
just adjusting your autoexpire threshold to account for this would
completely take care of the "full disk" issue without worrying about
how myth is handling deleted shows and all that other stuff.

Does this make sense to anyone or am I missing some important point
that would make this not work as I believe it would?
