Is there any real reason why MythTv uses this "alternate" software scheme ?
Any idea as to why it does just not use the normal video output system with
a small overlay window in the right place ???

A couple weeks ago Isaac indicated that some (most? many?) video
cards/drivers can't scale video into such a small overlay.

Hi Doug,

Well certainly my Via M10K box can handle performing HW MPEG decode and
scaling the video to a size even smaller that that which is required,
so it would work very well on my system :)

I think this would be a worth while feature. On my M10K box the CPU runs
at near 100% when displaying this small image rather than the normal 16%
when watching full video. This slows down the UI a lot when using
the "Whats On Guide" or looking for previous recordings.

Has anyone any pointes as to where in the code the small video windows
are done ?
Does anyone know if Xv can be quiered about the smallest video window it
can scale the video down to (This would save yet another config option) ?

Terry
