I don't think it is a matter of could. Hardware [d]encoders tend to do things 
their way or no way, because they've been developed to perform with in some 
time constraint... really if you know what the format/algorithm the hardware is 
using, you would only need to find a software encoder and the proper commands 
to give to that encoder to produce a compatible stream for the hardware the 
next time you encode content outside the PVR 350 card... got me where you would 
find that information though.
