It seems you have a reading or typing problem. uname -a IS NOT uname -r > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ MYNAME=`uname -a` > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ MYKERNEL=`uname -r` > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ export MYNAME MYKERNEL > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ set|grep MY > > MYKERNEL=2.6.9-1.681_FC3 > > MYNAME='Linux saruman.hugo.vanderkooij.org 2.6.9-1.681_FC3 #1 Thu Nov 18 > > 15:10:10 EST 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux' > > _=MYKERNEL Where are the 2 uname commands? You only used an incorrect one. Get the full verbatim of your action including the exact commands you perform and do NOT retype anything. Do things right or pay someone to do them for you. But if you fail to perform extremly simple commands right there is little hope you will get anything done. And unless you run a multiprocessor system you should not use the SMP kernel! But even so the SMP variant of a recent kernel is present. The kernel you need to have however is: 2.6.9-1.681_FC3smp And your package is to get is: kernel-module-nvidia-graphics6629-2.6.9-1.681_FC3smp-1.0_6629-65.rhfc3.at.i686.rpm So go and update your kernel first and make sure you boot from THAT kernel!
