Hi, I am still strugling to get X11 to output anything on my PVR-350 tv out.
I tried a suggestion to remove the rhgb option from grub.conf and replae it with vga=792 which will results in my VGA output to be fb0 and my PVR-250 would become fb1. Even with an xorg.conf file which I guess would be allright for a PAL TV it does not show anything on the TV screen. (Mind you that the dd command works just fine to watch telly.) If I try to do it Jarod's and stuff a initial ram disk with the modules I get the following messages: ivtv: Error -3 initializing firmware ivtv: Error -12 on initialization ivtv-osd: ivtv-fb_card_id parameter is out of range (valid range: 0--1) insmod: error inserting /lib/ivtv-fb.ko: -1 operation not permitted. I have the modules like ivtv at this stage but the card is not working untill I reboot without the modified ramdisk image. dmesg is able to tell me: tveeprom: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted. tveeprom: Ignoring new-style parameters in presence of obsolete ones saa7115: Ignoring new-style parameters in presence of obsolete ones tuner: Ignoring new-style parameters in presence of obsolete ones Linux video capture interface: v1.00 ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv: version 0.1.10 (0.1.10-48.4_pre2_ck100zz.rhfc3.at) loading ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.9-1.724_FC3 686 REGPARM 4KSTACKS gcc-3.4 ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info ivtv: between the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines when ivtv: mailing the ivtv-devel mailinglist. ivtv: Autodetected WinTV PVR 350 card ivtv: Found an iTVC15 based chip ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:0b.0[A] -> GSI 5 (level, low) -> IRQ 5 ivtv: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32) ivtv: pci: PCIBUS detected device: 0x0661 vendor: 0x1039 tveeprom: Hauppauge: model = 48139, rev = K257, serial# = 2913423 tveeprom: tuner = Philips FM1216 ME MK3 (idx = 57, type = 38) tveeprom: tuner fmt = PAL(D/K) (eeprom = 0x74, v4l2 = 0x00400e17) tveeprom: audio_processor = CS5331 (type = 9) ivtv: i2c attach [client=tveeprom[0],ok] saa7115: starting probe for adapter ivtv i2c driver #0 (0x10005) saa7115: detecting saa7115 client on address 0x42 saa7115: writing init values ivtv: i2c attach [client=saa7115[0],ok] saa7115: status: (1E) 0x48, (1F) 0xc0 tuner: chip found at addr 0xc2 i2c-bus ivtv i2c driver #0 ivtv: i2c attach [client=(tuner unset),ok] ivtv: Tuner Type 38, Tuner formats 0x00400e17, Radio: yes, Model 0x00ad2557, Revision 0x00000001 ivtv: PAL tuner detected ivtv: SECAM tuner detected ivtv: Radio detected Unable to open '/lib/modules/ivtv-fw-enc.bin'. ivtv: failed loading encoder firmware ivtv: Error loading firmware! ivtv: Error -3 initializing firmware. ivtv: Error -12 on initialization ivtv: iTVC15/16 mpg2 encoder card: probe of 0000:00:0b.0 failed with error -12 ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv-osd: ivtv_fb_card_id parameter is out of range (valid range: 0--1) I made notes on my progress and put them on: http://hvdkooij.xs4all.nl/linux-pvr.en.cms I will update them as I go.
