Hi David,

I edited mythstreamtv.sh to point to /usr/local/bin/vlc and I still had no luck.
Unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) I remembered that I had installed MythStreamTV as root. I went ahead and set the permissions for my MythStreamTV install point so that user "apache" could read and write and VOILA! everything works like a champ.

To sum it up:
Anyone reading this email and running MythStreamTV v.0.93 may wish to edit their mythstreamtv.sh file and change the command "vlc" to their actually VLC location (which can be found with "which vlc")
You should also remember to set your permissions for the folder you installed MythStreamTV to otherwise Apache will not be able to read mythstreamtv.sh and you'll get no log file.

Thanks David for the tip! I hope your submittal to Joshua gets included since being able to control the stream would be nice.

again, I think it is because the apache user does not have the vlc
command in the path. If you put the absolute path to the vlc (i.e.
the output of 'which vlc') in the mythstreamtv.sh, you should be able
to get it working just fine.

I only managed to get mine working properly last night.

Also, I threw together some control functionality for pausing,
restarting, and seeking within the stream last night. I forwarded it
to Joshua, for him to take a look at, but it was really rough. Maybe
in the next couple of weeks he will be able to incorporate it though.

If anybody would like me to forward it, email me direct, I don't have
anywhere to host it.

Cheers,
Dave

Heya folks,
I've almost gotten MythStreamTV to work but ran into a odd problem that
I havnt seen anyone mention on the mailing list yet.

I select a stream to play and this webpage comes up:
MythStreamTV is now streaming your program.
Click Here To Refresh Log File Display Click here to launch
mms://192.168.200.29:8001
 <Blank>
 Command line:/video/stream/mythstreamtv.sh 'WMV2' 'mp3' '500' '64' '1'
'30' '/1244_20050120150000_20050120160000.nuv' > /video/stream/log.txt
2>&1 &

When I click the link (mms://192.168.200.29:8001) Windows Media 9 comes
up (yes a WinXP box) and says that the server is not responding.

Hoping the log file would give me some clues I click "Click Here To
Refresh Log File Display" which brings this website up:
MythStreamTV is now streaming your program.
Click Here To Refresh Log File Display Click here to launch
mms://192.168.200.29:8001
 <Blank>
 Command line: <Blank>

This time both the log and the Command line output are blank.

As a experiment I went ahead and SSH'd to my MythTV box and ran "
/video/stream/mythstreamtv.sh 'WMV2' 'mp3' '500' '64' '1' '30'
'/1244_20050120150000_20050120160000.nuv' > /video/stream/log.txt 2>&1 & "
Which responds with " [1] 3048 "

Clicking "Click Here To Refresh Log File Display" this time brings up this:

Which leads to my question,
Why am I able to launch eveything fine from the command line but not the
MythWeb interface? There is of course something really basic I'm
overlooking...

Any thoughts folks?
