I used the stock 2.6.10 kernel patched with the video4linux DVB driver code.....
Have you tried running the MAKEDEV.sh script after reboot (can't remember what it's distributed with) ? Basically it uses mknod commands to create the correct dvb/adapter directories/nodes. I used this as an interim step to get the devices created and verify that my card was being recognised. I then worked on getting udev setup correctly so that the script wasn't required. I'd advise a similar approach! Andy.
