Doesn't myth simply scan a directory for nes and snes games?

I am trying to get my directory of NES games scanned. I am going to be
using xmess. However, how does myth scan for nes games that are
non-mame? I know the mame binary has a option for scanning a directory,
but I know of no other option for xmess or snex9x.
