Hey there, As far as I've been able to pinpoint this, it is in fact some kind of problem with the sound not getting properly initialized when first tuning to a channel - I can also experience this problem in live tv sometimes(when I first start it up), and all I have to do is change the channel away and then back, and then the sound is fine.
