I have only tried it on a very limited basis and the audio was way out of
sync instantly and haven't gotten back to debug it further. I did rip the
5.1 sound track in Myth, but not sure if I marked the AC3 box at the time.
I don't know how what formats are decoded and where, but my laptop plays
DVDs (myth and Windows) just fine so I assume the player is decoding for me
or something similar.

Sorry I can't provide a more knowledgeable answer, but how the audio streams
are handled is beyond me.

Todd,

How are you watching DVDs ? MVP doesn't have a dolby digital 5.1
decoder. Almost all dvds are encoded in 5.1. So are you
re-encoding/downmixing the sound to 2 channel stereo ? Or you dvds
have 2 channel stereo option.

When I tried to play some VOB files (renamed to mpg), I was able to
watch DVD but no sound came. I also recorded programs from my HD3000
card. I had to downres to 720x480 and to 2 channel stereo using vlc in
order to watch them via media mvp.

Thanks

Mudit

It's a great light weight front end. Google Myth MediaMVP for the site.
It
loads a myth image via tftp from the myth server. From there you can
watch
recorded TV shows via the myth protocol or video via an NFS mount (scripts
exist to make a friendlier name).

I have audio sync issues with ripped DVDs, but TV playback works well.
You
can watch and delete recordings, but you cannot currently schedule using
the
MediaMVP box. It can only play MPEG1/MPEG2 video, no dice on MPEG4 so you
can't transcode the shows.
