Hi, I wanted to let you know that I prevailed against a PVR-500. :)
I had the oh-so-common static / back screen. While Googling about it I found a "bug report" for Jarod's guide filed by Niklas : http://svn.wilsonet.com/projects/mythtvology/ticket/20 … which says that the message from the ivtv driver about using the recommended firmware version is "nothing to be worried about". Well, sorry Jarod, it's not. ;) I downloaded the right firmware. I had to shutdown for a minute but after that everything started working like a charm. I don't know if it's a issue with the MCE version of the PVR-500 or certain revisions of the card. Anyhow, here's the output of lspci -vv: 02:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device e807 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 64 (32000ns min, 2000ns max), Cache Line Size 08 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 10 Region 0: Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M] Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- 02:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device e817 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 64 (32000ns min, 2000ns max), Cache Line Size 08 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11 Region 0: Memory at e4000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M] Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- Thanks! -- cyth
