Without saying exactly where the segfault happens, I can't say for sure, but I suspect that it is a problem with OpenGL VSync, which opens /dev/nvidia0. The only way to really know is to compile a debug version and get a full backtrace.
Before trying to watch LiveTV, or recording, enter into the menus and switch off OpenGL VSync - that should fix your problem (you could also try switching off XvMC if you have it on).
