Hate having to answer myself, but I decided to go through just ONE more iteration of deleting and redoing all the card and channel settings in mythtv-setup, rerun mythfilldatabase, and restart mythbackend. Now I am able to change channels. Still no idea what it was that was wrong before. --Greg
