Hey all,
I would like some advice on how to fix the mess I got into...I figured
I'd wait on upgrading my FC3 to FC4 (setup according to Jarod's guide
and using ATRPMS) until all the bugs got worked out. Well...I guess I
should have waited longer.
I dropped in the FC4 CDs and updated my system, then I used "yum
update" to get all the right packages from ATRPMS I needed. Everything
works except my video capture card. However, it looks like the only
thing broken is the tuner. I saved my messages file, and compared it
to my FC3 version. The ONLY differences are of this type
<FC3
Sep 20 17:43:54 fc3 kernel: bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:00:0a.0,
irq: 12, latency: 32, mmio: 0xee004000
>FC4
Oct 21 22:51:17 fc3 kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKB] enabled at IRQ 5
Oct 21 22:51:17 fc3 kernel: PCI: setting IRQ 5 as level-triggered
Oct 21 22:51:17 fc3 kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:0a.0[A] ->
Link [LNKB] -> GSI 5 (level, low) -> IRQ 5
Oct 21 22:51:17 fc3 kernel: bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:00:0a.0,
irq: 5, latency: 32, mmio: 0xee004000
(yes, the hostname of my machine is fc3...)
Since I know I'm using the exact same version of bttv (Oct 21 22:51:17
fc3 kernel: bttv: driver version 0.9.15 loaded), I think I've got it
narrowed down to the IRQ issue.
SO, I tried adding this to my grub.conf: pci=routeirq, but that didn't help.
I'm testing this by running tvtime, but I consistently get a blue
screen there. I've confirmed I'm using EACTLY the same modules.conf
and modprobe.conf...by copying my FC3 ones and updating them with the
correct nvidia driver number.
Any ideas on where to go from here? I've rebooted into windows to
verify the card still works, I'm almost ready to just try all the
tuner= optins to see if that helps. (FWIW, I've got a Pinnacle PCTV
Pro card.)
Also strangly, if I pass tuner=4 (no tuner), I get
bttv0: using tuner=4
bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... not found
bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found
bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found
 : chip found @ 0xc0 (bt878 #0 [sw])
 : TEA5767 detected.
tuner 1-0060: TEA5767 detected.
tuner 1-0060: type set to 62 (Philips TEA5767HN FM Radio)
And at that point, I can see some rough signal in tvtime. However,
changing the channels doesn't work! (I see sketcky channel 2 all the
time.) Am I really close? Do I need to "tweak" another parameter, and
then it will work?
Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!
